Develop a Clear, Compelling North Star
A clear mission, inspiring vision, and strong values are the compass points that guide a successful organization.
Our Mission, Vision & Values Development Workshops help you and your team define, refine or update these foundational elements together.
We facilitate a collaborative process to articulate what your organization truly stands for and where it’s headed. The result is a set of mission, vision, and values that everyone understands and believes in – a “North Star” for decision-making and a motivational purpose for your team.
These workshops are unique to your organization, engaging and inclusive. We guide you through purposeful creative exercises and discussions to draw out authentic insights from your team.
By involving key stakeholders in developing your mission, vision, and values, we ensure strong buy-in and alignment. And we go beyond just wording: our sessions also explore how to live those values daily so that they don’t just sit on a poster, coaster or website,, but actively shape your company’s culture, strategy and the customer experience you deliver.
Who It’s For
- Teams of organizations of any type and size who need to establish, refine or update a clear mission, vision and set of values – whether starting from scratch or revisiting ones that no longer feel current.
- Leadership groups in organizations experiencing change (rapid growth, restructuring, mergers, new leadership) that requires a fresh or unified direction and culture.
- Departments or project teams within a larger organization that want to create their own mission/vision/values aligned with the broader company, to sharpen their focus and team identity.
- Non-profits, public sector organizations, and charities aiming to clarify their purpose and values to increase effectiveness and stakeholder engagement.
What’s Included
- Pre-Workshop Discovery: We start by understanding your context. We gather input on your organization’s perceived mission and values from key people. This helps identify areas of consensus or divergence to address in the workshop.
- Customised Workshop Session(s): A facilitated workshop (or a series of sessions, depending on your needs) with your leadership team and stakeholders. Using interactive exercises, we explore fundamental questions: Why does our organization exist? What impact do we aim to create (vision)? What core principles guide how we work (values)?
- Mission Statement Crafting: Guided activities to draft and iterate on a mission statement. We’ll help you nail down a concise, clear expression of your organization’s purpose and primary objectives.
- Vision Exploration: Creative visioning exercises (for example, scenario envisioning or “future press release” activity) to paint a vivid picture of your organization’s future. We then shape this into an inspiring vision statement that captures long-term aspiration.
- Defining Core Values: A collaborative process to identify 3-5 core values. We often use storytelling techniques – sharing proud moments or tough decisions from your history – to surface what values are truly at your organization’s heart. We then wordsmith those values into memorable, meaningful statements.
- Alignment and Consensus: Throughout the workshop, we check for alignment and ensure everyone’s voice is heard. If there are differing opinions, we facilitate constructive discussion to reach consensus that everyone can support.
- Implementation Planning: Finally, we dedicate time to discuss how to roll out and embed these mission, vision, values. We help you brainstorm practical ways to integrate them into daily operations (onboarding, performance reviews, team rituals, decision filters, etc.) so they stick.
- Documentation: After the workshop, we deliver a summary document capturing your new draft mission, vision, and values, along with any supporting narratives or definitions your team created. This serves as a reference and can be used in your communications. We can also include recommendations from the implementation discussion.
Key Benefits
- Unified Direction: Your team emerges on the same page about why you exist and where you’re going. This unity translates to clearer, more coherent strategy and messaging throughout the organization.
- Authenticity: Because your mission, vision, and values are crafted from within (with our facilitation), they truly reflect your organization’s identity and aspirations. Employees and customers will recognise them as genuine, not generic corporate jargon.
- Stronger Culture: Defining values together reinforces the culture you want to build. It opens up conversations about “how we do things here,” setting expectations and inspiring everyone to uphold those shared values.
- Better Decision-Making: A well-defined mission and vision serve as a constant reference point for making decisions big and small. When faced with choices, teams can ask “Does this move us toward our vision? Is it consistent with our mission and values?” – leading to more consistent and principled decisions.
- Employee Engagement: Involving team members in shaping mission/vision/values significantly boosts their buy-in. People feel heard and take ownership of the outcome. Later, they’re more likely to champion and live these principles, increasing overall engagement and morale.
- Brand Clarity: Externally, a clear mission, vision and values differentiate you in the marketplace and resonate with customers or clients who share your values. This clarity can strengthen your brand and improve how you communicate your story to the world.
Outcomes / Results
- Mission Statement: A concise, compelling mission statement that clearly states your organization’s purpose and primary focus. This is ready to be communicated internally and externally – it tells everyone “this is why we’re here.”
- Vision Statement: A vivid vision of the future you’re working towards, encapsulated in a motivating statement. This provides long-term direction and ambition, and can inspire your team and stakeholders alike about what’s ahead.
- Core Values List: A set of core values (with brief descriptions) that capture the essential beliefs and behaviors your organization stands for. These will serve as guiding principles for your culture and can be integrated into hiring, onboarding, and performance criteria.
- Team Alignment: A measurable increase in alignment and understanding among your leadership or workshop participants. By the end, there’s consensus and collective enthusiasm about the mission, vision, values. Often, teams report feeling “re-energized” and clearer on priorities after these sessions.
- Action Plan for Embedding Values: A list of practical actions or initiatives to ensure the mission, vision, and values don’t gather dust. For example, you may have plans to update the company handbook, launch an internal campaign to introduce the new MVV, or set up regular check-ins where teams discuss how they’re living the values.
- Foundation for Strategy and Messaging: With these elements defined, you have a solid foundation to develop further strategies (such as a strategic plan aligned with the vision) or communication materials (website, marketing collateral, investor decks) that consistently reflect your mission and values.
